Business News: If your Aadhaar was issued on or before 1 October 2024, you must link your PAN with Aadhaar by 31 December 2025. Failure to do so will render your PAN inactive, affecting banking, investments, demat accounts and ability to file ITR. The linking can be done easily via the Income Tax e-filing portal or by sending an SMS. Don’t delay-banks and financial transactions could stall soon after.

Belated ITR Filing Window Closes Soon

Taxpayers who skipped the ITR filing for fiscal year 2024–25 still have time. The last date for belated ITR submission is 31 December 2025. After this, no returns for 2024–25 will be accepted. Late fees apply — ₹1,000 for incomes below ₹5 lakh and up to ₹5,000 for higher incomes. If you miss this, you lose your opportunity for the year.

Advance Tax’s Third Installment Due Mid-December

Those whose tax liability after TDS exceeds ₹10,000 must pay advance tax — or face penalties. The third and final installment deadline is 15 December. Delay means interest and extra charges. Check your liability and settle it promptly to avoid avoidable costs.

Ration-Card E-KYC Also Ends This Month

In several states — including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan — December is also the final window for ration card E-KYC. Miss this deadline, and subsidies or rations could be stopped from January 2026. If your ration card E-KYC remains incomplete, act now.

Subsidy Under PM Awas Scheme: Last Date Near

The subsidy under the housing scheme for building a home — up to ₹2.5 lakh — now has its application deadline extended to 31 December. Interested beneficiaries must submit required documents: Aadhaar, income certificate and residence proof, and apply online soon, before the window shuts.

Why These Deadlines Matter For Everyone

Delays in PAN–Aadhaar linking or ITR filing can block banking, investments and financial compliance. Unpaid advance tax invites interest and penalty. Ignoring E-KYC or subsidy deadlines can mean loss of benefits. These are not just paperwork items — they affect your financial profile, credit history and future access to government schemes.

What Should You Do Now-Checklist For 2025 End

Before 31 December: link your PAN with Aadhaar; file ITR if missed; ensure advance tax is paid (if applicable); complete ration-card E-KYC; apply for PM Awas subsidy (if eligible). Do it today — don’t wait. Once the deadlines pass, don’t expect the government to reopen them.
